The match began more actively for the visitors. Celtic defender Stephen Pearson was close to scoring with a powerful strike from about 10 meters. Shortly after, Kilmarnock goalkeeper Graeme Smith had to work for the first time in the match, deflecting a strong shot from Polish striker Maciej Zurawski.
Kilmarnock missed their best chance when Steven Naismith hit the crossbar of Celtic's goalkeeper Artur Boruc after a pass from Garry Hays.
At the beginning of the second half, Kilmarnock players managed to break forward when former Dunfermline striker Colin Nish, who came on as a substitute, beat A. Boruc in the 49th minute. After conceding the goal, Celtic players increasingly attacked the opponent's goal. M. Zurawski missed a close-range header after Lee Naylor's cross into the penalty area.
However, the visitors equalized in the 55th minute, when Japanese legionnaire Shunsuke Nakamura scored a beautiful penalty kick from almost 22 meters. After scoring the equalizer, Celtic began to dominate the field. In the 75th minute, Kenny Miller, who replaced M. Zurawski, scored a very important goal for his team after receiving a pass from Shaun Maloney and directing the ball into the far corner of the goal.
At the end of the match, C. Nish had a chance to equalize, but his header flew over the goal. After this victory, the Celtic team with 31 points moved further away from Hearts and Rangers, while Kilmarnock remained in fifth place.
