"Schalke" team crushed by Stuttgart © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, the "Schalke" team suffered a crushing defeat, losing 0-3 to the "Stuttgart" club as visitors. Interestingly, the Gelsenkirchen club won only one of the last eighteen matches in Stuttgart. After this match, it became clear that the sole leaders of the league were the Bremen "Werder" team, leading their closest competitors "Bayern" and "Schalke" by three points.

In Sunday's match, "Stuttgart" gained the advantage after just over half an hour, when nineteen-year-old S. Khedira scored his first goal in the Bundesliga from eighteen meters. Soon after the break, the young player once again sent the ball into the visitors' net from a sharp angle, doubling his team's lead.

The "Stuttgart" advantage became overwhelming in the 75th minute, when after a precise pass from Arthuro Boka, S. Tasci scored his second goal in the Bundesliga from close range, beating Frank Rost for the third time. This year, "Stuttgart" started the season better than the last one – after nine rounds, the team has fifteen points, holding the fourth place and trailing the leader by only four points.

The next evening match ended with an even more impressive result – "Arminia" at home crushed newcomers "Aachen" 5-1 and secured their third victory in the last four matches.

The hosts had a much better start to the match and within twenty minutes already had a two-goal advantage – in the 12th minute, J. Kamper scored a distant goal, and a few minutes later, R. Kucera sent the rebound from a teammate into the net.

Immediately after the break, "Aachen" managed to reduce the deficit when a failed clearance by the "Arminia" goalkeeper resulted in R. Plasshenrich scoring from close range.

Nevertheless, "Arminia" was not willing to give up points and scored three more goals during the remaining time: just three minutes later, A. Wichniarek scored a great goal with his left foot from a distance into the top corner of the goal, in the 67th minute J. Kamper scored his second goal, and at the end of the match C. Eigler scored the fifth goal for the team. The last time "Arminia" scored five goals in a match was back in 1997. After the victory, Bielefeld's footballers share the fifth place, while "Aachen" dropped to the tenth place.
