Amauri snatches victory for "Palermo" © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, the remaining 9 matches of the Italian league took place. "Inter" club was overtaken at the top of the table by "Palermo" who won a victory. Unexpected wins were achieved by "Parma" and "Cagliari", while "Siena" and "Messina" also celebrated with three points. Meanwhile, the other matches ended in draws.

Thanks to a brilliant performance by the Brazilian Amauri, "Palermo" managed to defeat "Fiorentina" 3-2 in a tough battle.

The guests took the lead already in the 8th minute of the match, when Amauri dribbled past two defenders on the left side of the field and crossed the ball into the penalty area, where David Di Michele's shot led the Sicilian team ahead. However, "Fiorentina" managed to equalize in the 32nd minute, although the goal was rather bizarre. "Palermo" goalkeeper Alberto Fontana saved the opponent's shot, but the ball rebounded off directly into the face of the visitors' defender Andrea Barzagli and into the goal.

With ten minutes left until the end of the match, the team from Sicily once again surged ahead. Cristian Zaccardo crossed the ball into the penalty area, where Amauri headed it into the goal despite "Fiorentina" goalkeeper Sebastien Frey's attempt to save the shot. However, in the 87th minute, "Fiorentina" managed to equalize once again, after Adrian Mutu took advantage of mistakes by "Palermo" defenders and scored a goal.

However, Amauri shone once again, snatching victory for "Palermo" in the final minutes. The Brazilian perfectly dribbled past two defenders and sent the ball into the far corner of the net.

"Lazio" extended their streak of misfortune, playing to a 0-0 draw at home against "Reggina". Although the Rome club regained 8 points lost due to the corruption scandal decision of the Italian Olympic Committee on Friday, it did not help the club's players to win these matches. The entire match was dominated by the capital team, but they failed to convert their territorial advantage into goals, and at the end of the match, "Lazio" was saved from defeat by the excellent performance of goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi.

"Ascoli" played with ten men from the 34th minute and could not hold out against visitors "Siena" in a match that ended 1-0. In the 30th minute of the match, Simone Pescia replaced an injured teammate, but received his first yellow card within 30 seconds, and another one within 3 minutes, leaving the hosts with ten men. Taking advantage of this, "Siena" scored an impressive goal in the 86th minute thanks to Paulo Codrea.

In the final moments of the match, "Messina" managed to snatch victory against "Chievo" 2-1. The Verona club took the lead after Simone Tiribocchi's goal in the 33rd minute, but the most productive player of the championship, Christian Rigano, equalized the score in the 45th minute, and in the 94th minute, Sergio Floccari's shots into the corner of the net secured the victory for "Messina".

"Parma" finally managed to secure a victory. The club defeated "Atalanta" 3-1 at home, who lost due to poor defending and a terrible goalkeeper error.

"Cagliari" achieved their first victory of the season, defeating "Sampdoria" 1-0 at home. The victory for the hosts was determined by Daniele Conti's goal from a penalty kick in the 45th minute.

"Catania" took the lead at home against "Torino", but league newcomers player Giuseppe Mascara received a red card, and Turin's team took advantage of this to equalize the score, leading to a 1-1 draw.

The Tuscan derby between "Livorno" and "Empoli" ended in a 0-0 draw. Lithuanian Tomas Danilevičius started the match in the starting lineup, but was replaced in the 60th minute by Ibrahim Bakayoko.
