On Sunday, the remaining five matches of the 10th round of the Dutch "Eredivisie" championship were played. The team "AZ" won convincingly, "Twente" also enjoyed their match with "NEC", "Feyenoord" achieved a tough victory, outsider "Sparta" beat "Willem" by a minimal result, while the match between "NAC" and "Groningen" ended goalless.
The most productive match was held in Alkmaar, where the local team "AZ" faced "Utrecht". The hosts took the lead in the 23rd minute, when Stijn Schaars scored. In the second half, the visitors were simply outplayed.
In the 49th minute, Georgian international striker Shota Arveladze defeated "Utrecht" goalkeeper Michel Vorm. Four minutes later, David Mendes da Silva increased the score, adding his second goal in the 73rd minute, and with two minutes left to play, Tim de Cler sealed the victory for "AZ". However, in the 91st minute, "Utrecht" finally scored a consolation goal, as a penalty was awarded against "AZ". It was converted by Marc-Antoine Fortune.
In other matches, Kerkrade's "Roda" fought against Rotterdam's "Feyenoord". Strangely enough, the hosts "Roda" players took the lead. A precise strike from Adil Ramzi raised the spirits of fans in the 20th minute. But the visitors did not even think of giving up easily, and in the 39th minute, they equalized the score with a goal from Angelos Charisteas, who joined the team on the last day of the transfer window. In the second half, "Feyenoord" was gifted the victory by Steijn Huysegems' goal.
The absolute underdog of the championship, Rotterdam's "Sparta", followed "Den Haag's" example and narrowly defeated "Willem" at home in Tilburg. Ivan Cvetkov scored for the winners in the 70th minute.
Enschede's "Twente" also secured a beautiful victory, crushing Nijmegen's "NEC" at home. The hosts settled the matter in the first 20 minutes, with goals from Rob Wielaert in the 10th minute, Otman Bakkal in the 12th minute, who added his second goal four minutes later. Blaise N'Kufo sealed the victory with a goal in the match.
The last match saw Breda's "NAC" face off against "Groningen". In this match, the spectators did not witness any goals, with the final result ending 0-0.
