he International Football Federation (FIFA) celebrated its centenary in Paris. Yesterday, the celebration began with a match between the World champion Brazil and the European champion France.

On Thursday, people who have contributed the most to football were awarded - they received centenary orders for their merits. Legendary players Pele, Franz Beckenbauer, former long-time FIFA president Joao Havelange were awarded. The order was also given to the grandson of former FIFA president Jules Rimet.

England's "Sheffield FC" club, founded on October 24, 1857, received an award for being the oldest in the world. The royal Madrid club "Real" was recognized as the best club of the century.

FIFA also awarded the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its president Jacques Rogge with a centenary order for sports cooperation.

The celebrations are taking place at the Louvre in Paris, right next to the place where seven national federations founded FIFA on May 21, 1904.
