As confirmed by head coach Mark Hughes, Grenada national team and Blackburn striker Jason Roberts broke his foot during Sunday's English Premier League match against West Ham, which means he will not be able to play for three to four months.
The 28-year-old J. Roberts got injured during the match against West Ham, which Blackburn lost 2-1. After colliding with one of the "hammer" players, he fell to the ground and played only 28 minutes before being forced to leave the field, replaced by summer signing from Charlton, striker Francis Jeffers.
"It was a very unlucky day. We lost Jason Roberts for a long time," said coach M. Hughes. - "Jason broke his foot bone and because of this, he will be out for three or four months."
When asked about the match, M. Hughes replied: "We came here with high hopes of winning. Our plan was to take the initiative and break down the West Ham team, but unfortunately we couldn't do it," the coach regretted. - "We did much more in the second half, but their deserved second goal shattered any hopes we had of winning this match."
This defeat ended Blackburn's unbeaten streak of three matches, while the West Ham team, after eight consecutive winless games, secured three crucial points and probably saved manager Alan Pardew's position.
This summer, Blackburn acquired J. Roberts from Wigan and signed him to a four-year contract. The English-born striker, who scored 37 goals in 93 appearances for Wigan, was unlucky to suffer this injury.
