On Thursday, sixteen second-round group stage matches were played in the UEFA Cup. All British clubs emerged victorious - three English and one Scottish, as well as both French and two out of the three Dutch teams, and one team each from Romania, Portugal, Denmark, Belgium, and Greece, with three matches ending in a draw.
