Review: 35th round of the "A League" © EuroFootball.com

On Sunday, November 5, the penultimate matches of the 35th round in the "A League" will be played. The championship prize winners are already clear, so a more intense battle will only take place for lower positions. All matches start at 13:00.

In Kaunas, the previously crowned "Kaunas" will meet with "Nevėžis" who is fighting for the penultimate place. So far, the Kaunas team has won two matches: 3-1 and 2-0, and the last match ended in a draw 1-1.

Earlier, the coach of the Kaunas team, Eugenijus Riabovas, announced that experienced defenders Tomas Kančelskis and Nerijus Radžius will be allowed to rest until the end of the season. In addition, the Kaunas team may also lack motivation to play at full strength.

"Nevėžis" should not be lacking in motivation, but given the different skills of the teams, it is difficult to expect that the Kėdainiai club will once again take points from "Kaunas" in this season.

In Panevėžys, the finalists of the LFF Cup, "Ekranas" and "Sūduva", will meet. It should be noted that the victory in the final and the cup were celebrated by the Marijampolė footballers. However, in the "A League", Panevėžys has won two convincing victories: 4-1 and 3-1, with one match ending goalless.

In these matches, "Ekranas" will definitely not be helped by Mindaugas Gardzijauskas, who suffered a serious injury earlier, and it is also unclear whether Donatas Petrauskas will be able to play.

This match is important for the Marijampolė club in terms of the tournament table, as they continue to fight for 4th place. However, just playing well will not be enough for "Sūduva", they need their main rivals, "Žalgiris" and "Atlantas", to slip up. Meanwhile, "Ekranas" has already secured the silver medals, so points are no longer important to them.

In Vilnius, the "Vėtra" and "Šiauliai" teams, who have secured bronze medals, will meet. In their matches this season, "Vėtra" celebrated one victory with 4-0, with two matches ending in draws (1-1 and 0-0).

In the "Vėtra" team, we will not see the injured Algis Jankauskas and Bobi Božinovski for some time. For the same reason, "Šiauliai" will be without Genadijus Ščekotilinas, Sergejus Galiūza, and Vadimas Tarasovas, whose season has already ended.

Lately, "Šiauliai" has shown very poor gameplay. The team has suffered 3 losses in a row and has lost any chances to fight for top positions in the "A League". Speaking about the team's performance in the last rounds, the head coach of "Šiauliai", Saulius Vertelis, stated that there is no discipline, spirit, or team play left in the team. After this slump in performance, even if "Šiauliai" plays successfully in the remaining rounds, they may not rise from the 8th position.

In the Vilnius derby, "Žalgiris" and "Vilnius" will face each other. The teams have played 5 times this season: 2 matches in the LFF Cup and 3 times in the "A League". 4 matches ended in draws, and "Žalgiris" celebrated the only victory with 3-0.

Before the upcoming match, the coach of the "Vilnius" club, Ivan Švabovičius, officially stated on the team's website: "Tomorrow FC "Vilnius" promises to fight only for victory. Fighting against "Žalgiris" will not be easy, at the end of the championship, everyone needs points, and now snow has fallen. In such weather conditions, it is difficult to predict the outcome of the match, even the smallest accident could determine it."

Currently, "Žalgiris" has collected 50 points (4th place in the "A League"), surpassing "Vilnius", who is in 7th place.

In Šilutė, two maritime teams, "Šilutė" and "Atlantas", will meet. The Klaipėda club has won all three matches before this (2-1, 2-1, 4-1).

After the victory in the 33rd round against "Šiauliai", "Šilutė" rose to 9th place in the championship, just 1 point ahead of "Nevėžis", whom they will meet in the last matches of the season.

Meanwhile, the Klaipėda team is still fighting for 4th place, trailing "Žalgiris" by just 1 point. Therefore, in order to rise above, "Atlantas" needs a victory.
