On Friday and Saturday, four matches of the 11th round of the Eredivisie championship in the Netherlands were played. On Friday evening, "Willem" defeated "NEC", while on Saturday, "PSV" secured another victory, "Groningen" bounced back after a few setbacks, and the match between "Den Haag" and "Excelsior" ended in a 2-2 draw.
On Friday, the 11th round of the Dutch league started with a match between Nijmegen's "NEC" and Tilburg's "Willem". The hosts scored first in this match, with Brett Holman putting them ahead in the 30th minute, but "Willem" managed to equalize five minutes later through Kevin Bobson. With just 13 minutes left to play, the visitors ultimately managed to defeat the hosts, with Matthieu Assou-Ekotto scoring the winning goal.
On Saturday, three matches were played. Once again, Eindhoven's "PSV" players secured a convincing victory, winning 3-0 at home against Breda's "NAC". In the 27th minute, the hosts' attacking leader Jefferson Farfan scored a goal. At the end of the first half, the team captain and veteran Phillip Cocu doubled the lead. Farfan also scored the final goal of the match.
After a few setbacks, "Groningen" didn't disappoint their fans this time, defeating Kerkrade's "Roda" with a score of 2-1. All goals were scored in the second half. The visitors took the lead when Dave de Fauw scored in the 58th minute, but the hosts equalized in the 71st minute through Erik Nevland. The victory for "Groningen" was secured at the end of the match with a precise shot from striker Luis Suarez.
The most goals were scored in The Hague, where the local team "Den Haag" fought against league newcomers "Excelsior". In the 43rd minute, "Excelsior" defender Andwele Slory scored. Two minutes later, the score was equalized by Michael Mols. In the middle of the second half, the visitors once again took the lead as A. Slory scored his second goal of the match.
In the 74th minute, "Excelsior" had to finish the match with 10 men, as Sieme Zijm was sent off the field for a second yellow card. The home team managed to take advantage of their numerical superiority, as they scored a penalty in the visitors' goal after ten minutes, converted by Tininho.
