Uruguayan national team forward Mario Regueiro suffered an injury and has become the eighth player currently recovering from an injury.
The 28-year-old forward suffered a shoulder injury during Wednesday's match in the King's Cup in Spain against the third division team "Portuense." "Valencia" easily won the match 2-0 and advanced to the next stage.
Due to the injury, M. Regueiro will not play for at least three weeks, so he will miss the UEFA Champions League match at home against "Olympiacos" on November 22, where "Valencia" could secure the top spot in Group D.
In addition to the Uruguayan, "Valencia" currently cannot count on seven other players: Italian defender Emiliano Moretti and Spanish midfielder Jaime Gavilanas have suffered serious injuries. The Italian suffered a cruciate ligament injury on Sunday and will be out for three months, while J. Gavilanas suffered a similar injury last week and will be out for up to eight months.
Players from the Spanish national team David Albelda, Vicente and Ruben Baraja, as well as defenders Asier del Horno and Carlos Marchena have also suffered injuries. However, R. Baraja and Vicente are expected to return to the field soon.
"Valencia," currently in fifth place in the Spanish league, will host the struggling "Athletic" Bilbao team on Sunday at home.
