The club at the bottom of the Scottish Premier League table announced that they have appointed Stephen Kenny, the coach of the Derry City team, as their new head coach.

The 35-year-old coach will take over the team from interim coach Craig Robertson on November 18th, when Dunfermline play against Dundee United. Meanwhile, this Saturday, C. Robertson will lead the team in the match against Rangers.

"Stephen has an excellent record of unbeaten matches and his achievements to date are unparalleled," said Dunfermline president John Yorkston on the club's website.

S. Kenny has led the Irish Derry City team for the past eight years, and last season they finished second in the country's championship, qualifying for the UEFA Cup preliminaries.

They defeated the Swedish team Göteborg and the Scottish team Gretna, reaching the first round where they met the powerful French club P.S.G. and lost 2-0, but managed a 0-0 draw at home.

S. Kenny began his coaching career in 1999 with the Longford Town club, guiding them to their first European tournament appearance. In 2003, he won the Irish League Cup with Bohemians.

Due to a poor start to the season, Dunfermline's coach Jim Leishman left his post last month and returned to his previous position as general manager.

The team, which has played 13 games so far, has only 9 points and sits at the bottom of the table, trailing Dundee United by two points.
