Former Spain national team and "Barcelona" defender Josep Guardiola, at the age of 35, announced the end of his career as a professional footballer.
"Although my mind still thinks I can play, my body says it's enough," Guardiola said to the radio station "RAC-1."
The legendary defender spent 11 years at "Barcelona," becoming a six-time winner of the Spanish "Primera" league, a four-time winner of the Spanish League Cup, as well as winning the UEFA Champions League in 1992 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1997.
He represented the Spanish national team from 1992 to 2000, playing 47 matches without scoring a goal.
Guardiola left the "Blaugrana" team in 2001 and moved to the Italian Serie A club "Brescia," but in November of that year he was suspended for four months for doping.
After a brief spell with AS Roma, he returned to "Brescia" before finishing his career playing for Qatar's "Al Ahly" and Mexico's "Dorados de Sinaloa."
It is believed that the former long-time "Barcelona" player now hopes to become a coach.
