13th round: "PSV" solidifies its leader position © EuroFootball.com

The 13th round matches of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands were played. The sole leader of the championship remained "PSV", who took advantage of "Ajax" stumbling at home to increase their lead over the rival to three points, returning to the fight for third place after defeating "AZ" in a duel, won by "Feyenoord", while the match in Den Haag was interrupted due to fans invading the pitch.

In Eindhoven, "PSV" clashed with the championship newcomers "Excelsior" from Rotterdam. In this match, the multiple-time Dutch champions took the lead in the 29th minute, with Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone scoring a goal. At the end of the first half, Brazilian defender Alex added another one.

"PSV" players finished the match in a stunning fashion, scoring three more goals with just over ten minutes remaining. In the 80th minute, Peruvian national team striker Jefferson Farfan made it 3-0, and in the 85th minute, Mexican defender Carlos Salcido scored against "Excelsior".

The greatest attention was drawn to Rotterdam, where "Feyenoord" hosted last year's silver medalists from Alkmaar, "AZ". The spectators had to wait almost half an hour for a goal, when in the 29th minute the visitors' goalkeeper Job Bulters was defeated by the hosts' goalkeeper Nicky Hofs. But just three minutes later, "Feyenoord" goalkeeper Henk Timmer had to pick up the ball from his own net, as Demy De Zeeuw scored.

In the second half, the hosts managed to take the lead in the 56th minute through Timotheus Derijck. However, the visitors were not inclined to raise the white flag so early, and in the 74th minute, one of the leaders of the "AZ" team, Danny Koevermans, managed to equalize. Nevertheless, the last word in this match was said by "Feyenoord" goalkeeper N.Hofsas, who scored his second goal in the 81st minute and gifted his team a very important victory.

Amsterdam's "Ajax", who had been leading the championship for a long time, lost two important points as they faced the strong Enschede "Twente" at home. The guests proved it already in the 8th minute, when Orlando Engelaar led his team forward with a precise shot. However, in the second half, "Ajax" club leader Wesley Sneijder scored a beautiful penalty goal to equalize.

Another match took place in The Hague, where the bottom-ranked "Den Haag" faced Arnhem's "Vitesse". Already in the 13th minute of the match, the hosts were forced to play with one player less, as Pascalis Bosschaart was sent off the field. The visitors took advantage of this opportunity perfectly. In the 21st minute, a penalty kick was awarded to "Den Haag", which was scored by "Vitesse" team's attacking leader Danko Lazovic.

At the beginning of the second half, the visitors doubled their lead, which was done by Anduele Prijor. The opponents began to crush "Den Haag" one by one after the 66th minute accurate goal by Etienne Esajas. However, with 23 minutes to play, the home team's fans invaded the pitch and with the police unable to stop the fans, the match was interrupted.
