Roman Abramovich has acquired another player - forward Arjen Roben. The Dutchman will leave his current club for 12 million pounds.
The 20-year-old player signed a 5-year contract after talks with Chelsea coach Claudio Ranieri and club director Peter Kenyon.
The Dutchman was linked with the club, but they offered a much lower amount for the player - only 5 million pounds.
"I believe I can become a better player at Chelsea. I think I can become one of the best players there," said Roben.
Team coach Claudio Ranieri also expressed joy in his new acquisition - "Arjen will be a huge support to our team. He is fast, strong, capable of scoring and creating opportunities for goals. He can do it all. His playing style fits perfectly in the Premier League and I am very happy that he wants to come here."
It was thought that the player could replace Ryan Giggs at Manchester United, but the Manchester club could not offer a higher amount than what Chelsea offered.
