The "Milan" club reached the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup for the first time, beating Marius Stankevicius's "Brescia" team for the second time in the decisive round of 16 matches on Tuesday and confidently advancing.
"Brescia" 1 - 2 "Milan" (First match 2-4, total result 3-6) 15' [0 - 1] Ricardo Oliveira 19' [0 - 2] Davide Zoboli (own goal) 43' [1 - 2] Marek Hamsik
Struggling "Milan" bounced back in the weekend in the Italian championship with a win against "Messina", and this time they were seeking another victory against the lower division "Brescia" team. Since Carlo Ancelotti's team won the first match 4-2, the coach gave more playing time to substitutes and youth team players.
Although the hosts threatened the opponents' goal in the first half - with inaccurate shots from Marek Hamsik and Marius Stankevicius, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 19th minute, when Brazilian Ricardo Oliveira headed in from a corner kick. Soon after, "Milan" doubled their lead, with Davide Zoboli scoring an own goal after a shot by Yoann Gourcuff.
At the 35th minute, R.Oliveira had a great opportunity, but his shot was saved by the goalkeeper, and later both Davide Possanzini and M.Stankevicius missed the target with their attempts in the penalty area. Nevertheless, "Brescia" efforts paid off and just before the break, M.Hamsik reduced the deficit with a precise shot after a pass from D.Possanzini.
In the second half, both teams had chances to score, and the closest to another goal was the culprit of the second goal, D.Zoboli, who hit the crossbar in the 73rd minute, but the result remained unchanged and "Milan", beating the opponents for the second time, earned the right to play in the quarter-finals, where they will meet the winner of the "Arezzo" and "Livorno" pair.
