The winner of Spain and the UEFA Champions League team linked the future with two more players. Dutch Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Brazilian Sylvinho signed new one-year contracts with the Catalan club.

The 31-year-old versatile player Giovanni van Bronckhorst's contract was supposed to end next summer, but after successful negotiations with Barcelona, he extended the agreement and will defend the "Blougrana" colors until 2008.

"The club asked me to decide how long I still wanted to play in their team," revealed the left-back. "I am a realist and I know my age, so I still don't know what I will be in 2008."

The Dutch national team player has represented clubs such as Waalwijk's "RKC", Rotterdam's "Feyenoord", Glasgow's "Rangers" and London's "Arsenal".

Meanwhile, his teammate, also a left-back from Brazil Sylvinho, will represent Barcelona until 2008, and his buyout clause has increased from 18.5 to 30 million euros.

The 32-year-old player, who represented "Arsenal" and Vigo's "Celta", said: "I feel like it is a reward for my hard work."

"I am very happy because this contract extension shows people's belief in me, including President Joan Laporta, sports director Txiki Beguiristain and of course head coach Frank Rijkaard," added the Brazilian. "Playing here is like playing at home."

Two years after leaving "Celta" and moving to "Barca," the player won two Spanish champion titles and last year triumphed with the club in the UEFA Champions League.

This season, the defender appeared in only six matches, but overall, wearing the "Barcelona" shirt in 53 games, he scored two goals.
