On Sunday, the only and final match of the 17th round of the top Scottish Premiership league took place - mid-table Falkirk faced second-placed Glasgow Rangers. The home team Falkirk secured a 1-0 victory against Rangers after a 35-year hiatus.

The first dangerous opportunity was created by the players of the multiple Scottish champions Rangers - Nacho Novo headed the ball from close range after a corner kick, but his shot was saved by Falkirk goalkeeper Jeronimos Lambersas. Later, former Croatian national team striker Dado Pršo missed a shot over the crossbar after another corner kick, adhering to the golden football rule: "You miss - they score."
In the 26th minute, Marc Twaddle scored with a header from about ten meters after Russell Latapy's corner kick, and the ball bounced off the post into the net. Despite conceding a goal, the visitors did not falter and continued to attack, with J. Lambersas having to withstand another shot from N. Novo. Falkirk also had their chances - Liam Craig's long-range shot required a save from Rangers goalkeeper Alan McGregor.
In the second half, Filip Sebo, coming on in place of the injured Kris Boyd, had a chance to equalize, but he failed to score past the home team's goalkeeper after receiving a pass from D. Pršo. A little later, Brahim Hemdani almost lobbed the ball over his own goalkeeper A. McGregor, and McGregor also saved R. Latapy's penalty shot. Towards the end of the match, D. Pršo could have secured an equalizer for the visitors, but his shot from a sharp angle was off target.
After this defeat, Rangers are now 16 points behind leaders Celtic, while Falkirk jumped from eighth place to seventh after this unexpected victory.
