The country's vice champions, Panevėžio "Ekranas," have a new head coach - Saulius Širmelis. The 49-year-old strategist has previously worked as the coach of the Lithuanian youth national team (up to 21 years old).
Prior to this, S. Širmelis has coached clubs such as Vilnius "Žalgiris," "Ventspils" (Latvia), Prešov's "Tatran" (Slovakia), and "Kaunas."
The details of the contract are not yet disclosed.
The new coach at "Ekranas" will replace Virginijus Liubšys, who has been leading the Panevėžio club for 17 years. V. Liubšys resigned from his position after the last matches of this season. He was offered the position of the team's sports director, but he plans to reveal his decision later.
