This year, the head coach of the "Šiauliai" team, who finished eighth in the "A Lyga" last season, was appointed Darius Magdišauskas. He will replace Saulius Vertelis, who worked in the club for a year and a half before leaving his position following changes in the team – this was announced on the official website of the Šiauliai club.

For the past four years, the former defender D. Magdišauskas worked as a player-coach in a Swedish amateur club "Hillringsbergs", where several other Lithuanians also played. It is reported that Šiauliai have signed a long-term contract with the new coach.

The 37-year-old Šiauliai native has played for various teams throughout his football career, including Šiauliai "Tauras", Kėdainiai "Nevėžis", Klaipėda "Moksleivis", "Obuvshik" (Belarus), Šiauliai "Sakalas", Mažeikiai "Romar", Tallinn "Flora" (Estonia), "Seinajoki" (Finland), and Liepāja "Metalurgs" (Latvia). In 1989, he became a champion in Belarus, and in 1993 in Lithuania.

Along with the appointment of the new coach, it was also announced that the Belarusian defender Andrej Milevski will not remain in the Šiauliai team. He joined the club on loan from the Ždanovičių "Darida" club in the summer.

The Belarusian made his debut in the "A Lyga" on August 5 in a match against "Žalgiris" and played a total of 15 games in the championship, receiving three yellow cards. According to the Šiauliai website, the legionnaire will represent Marijampolė's "Sūduva" next season and has already started training with this team.
