On Thursday, the UEFA Discipline Committee, which met in the Swiss city of Nyon, fined the Dutch club Feyenoord from Rotterdam 125 thousand euros for the behavior of the team's fans. During the UEFA Cup tournament match on November 30 in France against the "Nancy" club, these fans threw tear gas canisters onto the field, causing the match to be temporarily stopped and the stadium to be evacuated. The Dutch club lost this match with a score of 0-3.
Furthermore, by UEFA's decision, the "Feyenoord" club will have to play the next two European Cup tournament matches in their home stadium "De Kuip" without any spectators. This means that in a week's time, during the crucial UEFA Cup tournament match against the "Wisla" team from Krakow, the Rotterdam club will play in front of empty stands.
UEFA also warned that if similar incidents occur in the future, the punishments will be stricter. "Feyenoord" club has the right to appeal this decision of the Discipline Committee within three days from the date it takes effect.
The fans of this Dutch club also caused problems during earlier UEFA Cup matches at home against "Blackburn," when they threw various objects onto the field.
