Attacker Nikola Zigic was named the best player of the year in Serbia for the first time. This title was secured for him by an excellent previous season playing in Belgrade, with which he won the Serbian championship and the country's cup.
Last season, he scored 11 goals in 23 matches in the Serbian championship, and in the cup final he scored two goals and helped "Crvena Zvezda" defeat the other city team OFK 4-2, even though the club was trailing 0-2 before that.
The two-meter and two-centimeter tall striker is currently the top scorer for "Racing Santander" this season, having scored five goals.
