After this victory, Lens strengthened their position in the fight for the second place, as the clubs behind them - "Sochaux," "Nancy," and "Bordeaux" - lost points in this round.
The recently successful "Sochaux" team this time could not secure a victory in an away match against "Valenciennes" after 90 minutes of play. The match in Nice between the local team "Nice" and this season's standout team "Nancy" ended in a 0-0 draw. Meanwhile, the last season's vice-champion who withdrew from this week's UEFA Champions League tournament, "Bordeaux," had to admit a 1-2 defeat at home to "Rennes."
