Over the weekend, the 16th round of the country's "Eredevisie" championship took place, in which, as it has become usual this season, quite a few goals were scored.
Arguably the most interesting and captivating match took place in the capital Amsterdam, where the leaders "Ajax" and Alkmaar's "AZ" teams met. The hosts were the first to score in this match - Johnny Heitinga scored in the 35th minute. In the second half, "AZ" responded with two goals - Shota Arveladze scored the equalizer in the 51st minute, and just 6 minutes later David Mendes da Silva put the visitors ahead. It seems that the Rotterdam "Sparta" team is slowly recovering. Formerly a complete outsider, this team recently defeated "Ajax" and this time, after a hard-fought battle, they defeated Almelo's "Heracles". "Sparta" took the lead after goals from Hario Medunjanin and Jeffrey Vlug, but at the end of the match, "Heracles" created intrigue with goals from Diego Biseswar and Kwame Quansah, but there was not enough time for an equalizer.
The country's champions, "Eindhoven", continue to hold their positions. For a long time behind "Ajax" and "AZ" in the standings, the club has now not conceded a goal for 739 minutes and leads Alkmaar by 7 points in second place. This time "PSV" won 2-0 away against "Groningen".
The team of Breda's "NAC" showed true winners' and fighters' character, as in the match against Rotterdam's "Excelsior" they practically played with ten players from the very beginning, due to forward Santiago being sent off for a second yellow card in the 7th minute. However, this did not prevent the team from achieving victory.
In Tilburg, the home team "Willem II" faced Enschede's "Twente" and the visitor's forward Blaise N'Kufo scored a "hat-trick", helping his team win 3-1.
