According to the Spanish radio station "Radio Marca" on Thursday, Madrid has reached an agreement with Buenos Aires' "River Plate" for the acquisition of one of the most promising Argentinian footballers, striker Gonzalo Higuain, for a sum of 13 million euros.

The radio station reports that the 19-year-old Argentinian has agreed to sign a six-and-a-half-year contract with the nine-time European champions.

G. Higuain received a lot of attention in May when he scored two goals against "Corinthians" in the "Libertadores" Cup, helping "River Plate" win 3-1. In October, he once again received much praise for scoring two goals against their main rivals "Boca Juniors" in a match that also ended 3-1.

Born in France but moved to their homeland Argentina with his parents before turning one, G. Higuain refused to represent the French national team in November.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Spanish newspaper "AS," the "royal" team is likely to also be reinforced by another young Argentinian - Fernando Gago, who plays as a holding midfielder at the "Boca Juniors" club.

According to the newspaper, the match against the "Estudiantes" club on Wednesday could be the last match for the 20-year-old footballer wearing the "Boca Juniors" shirt. If the Argentinian successfully passes the medical examination, he should make his debut in Spain on Monday.

It is believed that F. Gago will sign a 15 million euro contract for a duration of five years and earn close to 1.5 million euros per year.
