Unsuccessfully playing the first half of this year's "Ligue 1" championship, the Paris club is looking for reinforcement and has agreed with Argentina's "River Plate" club to acquire defender Marcelo Gallardo.
The 30-year-old defender has previously played in the "Ligue 1" representing the "Monaco" club. It is said that the main reason that prompted the player to move to France is that "River Plate" coach Daniel Passarella did not foresee any role for him in the main team composition.
"I still have a few formalities to settle with 'River Plate' and then I will officially become a player for 'P.S.G'," Gallardo said.
"Nevertheless, we have already reached a final agreement and I can't wait to hit the field in 'Ligue 1' matches."
"I know it will be a significant challenge for me, but I am sure I can help the team. I know the club is currently in a difficult situation, but it doesn't scare me at all.
"I am arriving in France in good shape and with much more experience than when I played for the 'Monaco' club, so I am confident that French football fans will see a completely different, better Marcelo Gallardo this time."
