Can S.G. Eriksson become the coach of "Marseille"? © EuroFootball.com

Recently, rumors have been spreading in the French press that former England national team coach Sven Goran Eriksson is vying to become the head coach of a struggling club that has been performing poorly lately.

The "Marseille" club, which started the season well but then fell into a slump and has yet to find its game, may soon be sold - its current owner, Robert-Louis Dreyfus, is considering selling the team to investors from Canada.

According to the French press, with the change of ownership, the club's coaches will also change. S.G.Eriksson is considered the most realistic candidate for this position, as he has not coached any team since stepping down as England national team coach after the 2006 World Cup. This was confirmed by his long-time assistant, Tord Grip.

However, Grip also stated that the football specialist from Sweden is not ready to make a final decision until the issue of the French team's owner is resolved completely.

"Yes, negotiations are currently underway, but until the situation regarding the owner of 'Marseille' is completely clear, we cannot make a final decision," Grip said.

"From what I've heard, there are currently two investors interested in 'Marseille'. I don't know the team well myself, and I believe Sven also knows little about this club. After all, there are still six months left in the season during which a lot can happen," Grip concluded.
