The Dortmund club, competing in the Bundesliga championship and experiencing times of change, officially announced on Tuesday that former Hertha Berlin team strategist Jürgen Röber will replace the dismissed coach Bert van Marwijk in the team.
As stated on the official Borussia club website, the new coach will lead the team until June of next year and will provide additional details at a press conference.
After losing 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, the club's management could not stand it and dismissed the 54-year-old coach B. Van Marwijk on Monday, and on the same day attempted to attract former Dortmund team strategist Ottmar Hitzfield to the club, however, the latter rejected the offer.
Without waiting, Borussia appointed J. Röber as their new strategist, who has experience in the German championship, as he has previously coached Bundesliga teams such as Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, and Hertha Berlin.
J. Röber led the capital's Hertha team from 1996 to 2002, during which he managed to promote the club from the second division and later qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
The last club of this strategist was the multiple Serbian champion Partizan Belgrade, but after a poor last season, on May 11, by mutual agreement with the club management, he parted ways with the team.
J. Röber's first test at the helm of the Borussia team will take place after the winter break, when the team will face the German champions Bayern Munich on January 26, whom they lost to 2-0 in the first round of matches.
Currently, Borussia has collected 22 points in the German championship after playing 17 rounds and holds the 9th position.
