One of the best Ecuadorian footballers Augustin Delgado, currently representing his home country's LDU team, has been disqualified for one year, as reported by the newspaper "El Comercio".
The Ecuadorian football federation announced this punishment after the last round of the national championship match between the rival teams LDU and "Barcelona de Guayaquil" last Saturday, during which there were mass brawls on the field. A. Delgado was one of the instigators.
Along with A. Delgado, the Peruvian Palacios and the Paraguayan Espinola will also be unable to compete for a year.
Other LDU representatives received milder penalties - Jairo Campos will be unable to play for six months, Urrutia for four months, and Borja and Espinoza for eight weeks.
The "Barcelona" team will have to play without Samuel Vanegas, Jayron Zamora, and David Garcia for three months, and without Edwin Tenorio for two months.
However, these penalties only apply to the Ecuadorian league, so all footballers will still be able to play in prestigious tournaments such as the "Copa Sudamericana" and "Libertadores," as well as represent their national teams.
