Klaipėda's "Atlantas" team is being left by two more players - as confirmed to the newspaper "Vakarų ekspresas" by the club's director Vacys Lekevičius, this week the team said goodbye to the veteran defender and forward.
According to V. Lekevičius, this happened because the club cannot pay the players their desired salaries.
26-year-old M. Karalius returned to Klaipėda's team after a two-year break before the 2006 season and during that season he played 29 matches in the "A Lyga", but only scored 4 goals. Meanwhile, 34-year-old E. Žukauskas, playing his third season in the port city, was a regular member of the main team and represented "Atlantas" in 34 out of 36 matches.
V. Lekevičius also did not deny rumors that the main goalkeeper, who is of interest to the "Vilnius" club, may also leave "Atlantas". The long-time club coach admitted that there may be more changes in the team, but stated that everything will be clear later.
"The future of the team will only be clear after the New Year, when I know the club's financial possibilities. At the moment, I am looking for a coach. But if I can't find one, I will train the team myself," - confirmed V. Lekevičius to "Vakarų ekspresas".
Although many "A Lyga" clubs are already preparing for the new season, "Atlantas", which has already said goodbye to a significant part of the main team during the offseason, will only start doing so after the New Year - on January 5th.
