Christmas filled with surprises at the Dutch Championships © EuroFootball.com

During the holiday period in the Netherlands, two rounds of the country's "Eredevisie" championship took place - the eighteenth and nineteenth. In addition to the usual goal abundance, there were also several surprises.

One of the biggest surprises of the 18th round was recorded in Arnhem, where the local team "Vitesse" defeated the capital's "Ajax" eleven 4-2 right at the end of the match. The Amsterdam club was leading after Gryger and De Mul's goals, but immediately after the break, "Vitesse" equalized the score. The situation became complicated with half an hour left until the end of the match, as Gabri was sent off with a red card from "Ajax". The hosts managed to take advantage of their numerical superiority only at the end of the match, scoring 2 goals in a couple of minutes.

Yesterday, "Ajax", in front of their own fans, managed to redeem themselves and defeated "Roda" team with a score of 2-0.

The leader of the 18th round, Eindhoven's "PSV", secured another victory by crushing "Willem II" 4-0. The country's champions settled all their business in the first half of the first half, scoring three times.

However, in the 19th round, "PSV" ended a series of 12 consecutive victories on the road and also conceded their first goal after 956 "dry" minutes. This was done by Angelo Charisteas of Rotterdam's "Feyenoord". The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Christmas rounds were particularly unsuccessful for Alkmaar's "AZ" footballers, who had stepped into second place. During Christmas, "AZ" unexpectedly played at home with a draw against mid-table team Nijmegen's "NEC", and on Wednesday they hopelessly lost 0-3 away to "Twente" eleven. After these rounds, "AZ" dropped to third place, giving way to "Ajax" in second place.
