London and England national team center-back John Terry underwent back surgery on Thursday lying on the operating table, but surprised everyone by returning to the club's training session on Friday after only 24 hours following the operation.
The 26-year-old defender was captured running in a photo posted on Chelsea's website at the Cobham training base in London.
However, Chelsea's chief doctor Bryan English refused to specify how long the club's defensive pillar will be unable to play.
"I can't say precisely how long he will need to fully recover," B. English is quoted as saying on Chelsea's website. "When I hear the opinions of so-called 'experts' saying that he will have to sit out for six weeks, when those people comment without even knowing his condition, it annoys me a little."
In the three games without J. Terry, Chelsea conceded six goals and is now four points behind the leaders Manchester United in the Premier League.
Having sold William Gallas and Robert Huth in the summer, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho admitted that the club lacks defenders.
The Blues have already conceded fifteen goals this season - just seven less than in the entire last season in the Premier League.
