Before New Year's in the Netherlands, there were 20 Eredivisie championship matches, in which several surprises were recorded.
Amsterdam's "Ajax" and Alkmaar's "AZ" continue to share points. The capital's team played away with Nijmegen's "NEC". "Ajax" took the lead after Kenneth Perez's goal in the second half, but "NEC" managed to score two goals in two minutes and take the lead. But the hosts did not enjoy the lead for long - just a minute later "Ajax" scored an equalizing goal.
"AZ" also played a draw at home with Kerkrade's "Roda", which ended the match with ten men. Andras Oper scored a goal in the first half, but after the break Barry Opdam equalized the score. Oper scored again, but soon after he was shown a second yellow card and sent off the field. "AZ" secured a point at the end of the match when Danny Koevermans scored.
Eindhoven's "PSV" won with a 2-1 victory over underdogs "Den Haag".
