West Ham's safety Lee Bowyer, who holds only 18th place in the English Premier League championship, dislocated his shoulder in Monday's 6-0 loss match against the league newcomer Reading and may not be able to play for six weeks because of this reason.
The 29-year-old Englishman played for less than 20 minutes fighting for the ball when he dislocated his shoulder and was forced to leave the field. Due to this injury, the footballer is likely to be unable to play for the entire month of January.
"Lee dislocated his right shoulder for a long time and he will have to wear a brace for about three weeks," said physiotherapist Steve Allen to the club's website. – "We believe he may be ready to play only after six weeks."
L. Bowyer's injury may affect coach Alan Curbishley's plans - the strategist will try to strengthen the team and acquire new players during the open winter player transfer window to help lift West Ham out of the relegation zone.
The player joined the Hammers in June 2006 after leaving Newcastle United and played 17 games this season for West Ham. The safety has also represented Leeds and Charlton teams, and from January to July 2003 he played for the same West Ham team.
