Madrird coach Gregorio Manzano left the club after coaching it for only one season.

Manzano came to "Atletico" from the "Mallorca" team, with which he won the Spanish King's Cup. The coach's goal was to secure a spot in one of the European tournaments after a four-year break, but this season "Atletico" finished 7th - although they tied in points with "Sevilla", the latter ranked higher due to a better goal difference.

In his career, Manzano has coached teams such as "Mallorca", "Valladolid", "Rayo Vallecano", and "Racing". The former "Atletico" coach told journalists that he made the decision to leave the club "several months ago". "Atletico" president Enrique Cerezo told journalists that they currently do not know who will replace Manzano, but one of the favorites is believed to be "Albacete" coach Cesar Ferrando. Ferrando's "Albacete" team secured a spot in the highest division of Spain last year, and this season, their debut season, they achieved a respectable 14th place.

On the official club website, "Atletico" announced that the team's goalkeeper German "Mono" Burgos is also leaving the club. Burgos, whose nickname means "monkey", spent three seasons with "Atletico".
