David Beckham is planning to renew negotiations with Madrid next week for a new two-year contract.
The 31-year-old midfielder, capable of playing in the center or on the right, will become a free agent this June, and so far talks about extending the contract have been fruitless.
"Real" made an important offer and that is the only club we are currently in talks with. The next meeting should take place in the second week of January," said the English representative Simon Oliveira.
In the British press, reports were circulating for some time that the negotiations were at a standstill because Beckham wants complete control over his image rights. "Real" does not agree to this condition, as under the current contract, both parties share the related profits equally.
"Beckham's decision will be primarily influenced by football, not financial matters. Questions about rights and image are very important, but not essential," Oliveira said.
According to current FIFA rules, Beckham can negotiate with other clubs without any restrictions, as his contract expires in less than half a year. It is reported in the media that many Spanish, Italian, and English teams are interested in signing the midfielder.
Nevertheless, according to Oliveira, the transfer to another team could only happen at the end of the season: "Beckham wants to play a significant role in the remaining part of the season at Real."
"He needs time to make a decision, as this will be his last important contract in his career. He should know what to do next by March," he added.
This season, Beckham has played a total of 17 matches for the Royal team, but only started in 7 of them.
