In Italy's "Serie A" league, the club occupying the second place rented out a former national team striker to England's "Premier" league eleven.
The "Fulham" club borrowed the striker for six months with the condition that they could buy the player and sign a long-term contract with him.
The 32-year-old player, who was the main striker for the Italian national team at the 2002 World Cup held in South Korea and Japan, represented Roma for seven years.
"Roma" reached an agreement with "Fulham" to temporarily rent out striker Vincenzo Montella," a statement on the official Italian club's website said.
V. Montella represented the "Roma" team for many years and won the Italian championships in 2001. In total, while wearing the shirt of the Italian capital's team, he scored 83 goals in 180 matches, and in his country's national team, the player managed to score three times in 20 matches.
One of the most prolific "Serie A" players of all time, V. Montella began his professional football career in 1990 at the "Empoli" club. Later, the Italian played for "Genoa" and "Sampdoria" before moving to the "Roma" club in 1999.
In the "Roma" team, Montella will most likely be replaced by another former "Empoli" striker Francesco Tavano, who did not establish himself at the Spanish "Valencia" club and will be loaned out. According to media reports, F. Tavano underwent a medical examination in Rome on Thursday and is expected to finalize the deal soon.
