The new Real Madrid coach, Jose Antonio Camacho, revealed his plans at a press conference. Camacho, who replaced Carlos Queiroz in the coach's post on Monday, stated that David Beckham will play a very important role in the team next year.

"Beckham is a very important player for Real," said Camacho. "He can play in the middle, as he did this year for Real, but he can also play on the right, where he plays for the England national team and previously - for Manchester United."

However, the new team coach did not disclose in which position specifically the Englishman will play: "I will decide that each time, taking into account the circumstances."

Camacho also stated that the most prolific player of last season for Real, Brazilian Ronaldo, will need to put in more effort, not just scoring goals, if he wants to maintain his place in the starting lineup.

"Ronaldo not only needs to score goals, but he also needs to run a lot and fight without the ball," said the coach. "I think he understands what I will require from him."

The Spaniard also added that he does not intend to be a very strict coach: "I train the team in my own way, but I always stand up for my players. I never go into the dressing room with a whip and do not intend to be a dictator."

The coach also set the main goal for himself and the team - to qualify for the main Champions League tournament. Real will have to win in the third qualifying round this August in order to reach the main group stage.

Camacho said: "There is still a lot of work to be done before August to reach the Champions League, but for now everything is done only for this goal."

When asked about possible new transfers, Camacho replied: "It is too early to talk about new signings. First, we need to discuss what the club needs and decide which positions are the most demanding for us."
