"Barcelona" will buy a goalkeeper from Argentina? © EuroFootball.com

The champion club of Spain could be reinforced next summer by the talented "Independiente" and Argentine national team goalkeeper Oscar Ustari. This was reported on Thursday by the Catalan newspaper "El Mundo Deportivo".

The desire to see the 20-year-old former World Cup goalkeeper O. Ustari playing for the Argentine national team was also expressed by London's "Arsenal", which is looking for a future replacement for the current team goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

O. Ustari, who plays maturely and confidently, was wanted by Barcelona over a year and a half ago, but he was not released by the Argentine club at that time.

The goalkeeper has publicly stated many times that he dreams of playing at "Barca" alongside his childhood friend Lionel Messi, and the role of the second club goalkeeper does not scare him.

According to the publication, Barcelona will pay 10 million euros for the 20-year-old "Independiente" goalkeeper, and the Argentine will join the Catalan team this summer.

If this deal is confirmed, it means that the second goalkeeper Albert Jorquera will most likely leave the Spanish champions, as he has a valid contract with the club until 2008. The main goalkeeper for Barcelona will continue to be the Catalan Victor Valdes.

O. Ustari's excellent reaction at "Barca" would fill the spot left by a non-EU player. It should be noted that this spot became available when the captain of the Mexican national team, Rafael Marquez, received Spanish citizenship.

According to the Catalan newspaper, Ustari himself could easily obtain dual citizenship - his family is originally from the Basque Country, so family ties would expedite the formalities in obtaining Spanish citizenship.
