The striker of the German national team and the team currently in 16th place in the Bundesliga, Oliver Neuville, will undergo groin surgery, which could keep him out of play for about a month.
The 33-year-old player strained his groin in the first part of the season. After examining the footballer, Borussia Moenchengladbach's team doctor Stefan Hertlas and his colleague in the national team, Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, decided that surgery would be necessary.
It is not yet known how long the experienced striker, who represented Germany in two 2008 European qualifying matches and scored four goals in thirteen Bundesliga games, will be sidelined.
One thing is for sure, O. Neuville will definitely not be able to help the Borussia Moenchengladbach team when they resume their season after the winter break on January 27th, when they face 15th-placed Energie Cottbus.
