The striker of the Lithuanian national team will continue his career in Bologna. The best Lithuanian footballer of 2006 officially moved from the Italian "Serie A" to a lower league team participating in the "Serie B" league.
For some time, there have been rumors about the possible transfer of the Lithuanian who did not secure a place in the main squad of the "Livorno" club, and the predictions came true - as stated on the official "Livorno" website, 50 percent of the rights to the Lithuanian player were acquired by the seven-time Italian champion club "Bologna", just one point behind the "Serie B" leaders "Rimini" and "Piacenza".
The 28-year-old Lithuanian will be presented in his new club on Saturday at 18:00 local time and will represent the team according to the rules of the Italian league until another club agrees with "Bologna" and "Livorno" regarding his acquisition. The transfer fee is not disclosed, but it is believed that "Bologna" may have paid around 2 million euros for the player.
In the 2005/06 season, T. Danilevičius spent his time on loan at the "Avellino" club playing in the "Serie B" league and scored 17 goals, making him one of the top scorers in the league, but this did not prevent the team from being relegated to a lower division.
Last summer, the forward from Lithuania returned to "Livorno" and started the new season successfully - he scored three goals in the Italian championship and scored the historic first goal of the club in the UEFA Cup, but later he was less frequently included in the starting eleven of the team, as the "Livorno" coach Daniele Arrigoni chose the team's attacking leaders Cristiano Lucarelli and Ibrahim Bakayoko from Ivory Coast or Brazilian Paulinho instead of him.
"Bologna" will be the 10th team in T. Danilevičius' career - the player born in Klaipėda started with the local "Atlante" and later represented "Club Brugge", Moscow's "Dynamo", "Lausanne", London's "Arsenal", "Dunfermline" and "Beveren", before moving to the then "Serie B" club "Livorno" in 2002. During three and a half seasons at "Livorno", the Lithuanian player appeared in 73 matches and scored 10 goals in league competitions.
After the striker's transfer to the strongest league in Italy, there will no longer be any Lithuanians in the "Serie A", while in the "Serie B" championship, T. Danilevičius will have to compete for promotion against his compatriot and team mate in the national team Marius Stankevičius, who currently holds the 12th position in the championship with "Brescia".
