On Sunday, the head of Russian football denied rumors spread by the press that the national team's head coach Guus Hiddink could leave the team and take over the helm of a London team.
"He (Guus Hiddink - author's note) has a contract, he is the national team coach and as long as his contract is valid, no one can consider him a candidate for another team's coaching position," said Russian Football Union President Vitaly Mutko in an interview with the "Ekho Moskvy" radio station.
G. Hiddink signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Russian Football Federation last April.
In England, the "Sunday Mirror" newspaper, citing unnamed sources, announced that J. Mourinho could leave the position of head coach of "Chelsea" after this season, and Guus Hiddink is the favorite to take over the vacant position.
Chelsea's owner, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, helped attract the Dutchman to Russia and also pays part of his salary.
