Swedish club "Helsingborgs" revealed on Monday that Swedish national team striker Henrik Larsson could stay in the team until the end of this season.
H. Larsson, who managed to score in his debut 2-1 win against "Aston Villa," is currently on a short-term loan agreement with the Swedish club until mid-March.
The president of the Swedish club, Stenas-Inge Fredinas, revealed that they would allow H. Larsson to stay in the English club until the end of the season if both parties were able to reach an agreement.
"We leave this decision to Henrik," said S. Fredinas. "If he decides he wants to stay, then we will be willing to negotiate with Manchester United. We will not stand in his way."
However, S. Fredinas also confirmed that there have been no negotiations or discussions with Man Utd so far: "There have been no negotiations so far, and March 12 is the day when he must return to our club."
"If United wanted to keep him, Henrik should decide first, and then we would sit down at the negotiating table and try to find a solution beneficial to both clubs," said the president.
Despite an impressive debut, H. Larsson is not yet ready to talk about his future.
"It's all just a lot of 'ifs' and for now I have only played one match," said the Swede.
Nevertheless, Larsson's contribution to the team has already led Sir Alex Ferguson to compare him to the legendary Eric Cantona.
"Henrik always scored goals, and some of them were amazing and decisive for the outcome of the match," said the Man Utd coach. "Eric Cantona was the same way when he played here. Henrik could score two or three goals because he moved brilliantly on the field. The goal really reflected his game - the strike was confident, there was no doubt he would score."
