Christian Ziege was called up to the German national team for the European Championship.
32-year-old Ziege, who is currently without a club after being released from an English team, will replace the injured defender Christian Rahn in the national team. Rahn failed to recover from a muscle injury, which kept him out of the last four Bundesliga matches.
National team coach Rudi Voller now has 22 players in his team, and before June 2nd, when the final squad must be announced, he will have to choose the 23rd team member. The main contenders for this last spot are 18-year-old forward Lukas Podolski and 19-year-old midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
