Actively preparing for the upcoming season, Vilnius FC acquired defender Algirdas Jankauskas from the Russian "Premier" league club Perm and welcomed back former captain Gediminas Butrimavičius after a one-year break. However, next season the team will not see two players: the club decided to part ways with Šarūnas Litvinas, and Žilvinas Žudys, who ended his career, will start working in the club's administration.

Last season, the team rented A. Jankauskas from a Russian club. "Vėtra" signed a new three-year contract with the 24-year-old A. Jankauskas, which will be valid until the end of 2009.

Last season, A. Jankauskas played 24 matches in the "A Lyga" and started all of them in the main lineup. The season's defender did not finish due to a knee injury, which required a meniscus operation.

Currently, A. Jankauskas is fully recovered and is preparing for the upcoming season with the team in Vilnius.

Next season, we will not see two players on the field wearing "Vėtra" jerseys. The 29-year-old did not receive an offer to extend his contract and will now try to establish himself in a Polish team. The forward appeared on the field 14 times in the last season but did not score any goals. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old defender ended his professional football career but will remain in the club and work in an administrative role.

The former captain of the Vilnius team who left for the United States after the 2005 season has also returned to the "Vėtra" team. The 26-year-old midfielder decided to return to Lithuania and will now try to reestablish himself in the club.

Meanwhile, there have been reports in the Russian media that another "Amkar" player, 22-year-old forward Ivan Kurdanin, may soon visit the capital's club for a trial.

It is worth noting that "Vėtra" will leave for a training camp in Turkey tomorrow, where they will play friendly matches against Moscow's "Dynamo" and "Spartak" as well as Odessa's "Chornomorets" clubs.
