The Vilnius "Vėtra" club has been supplemented by another newcomer - a former Klaipėda "Atlantas" player Almiras Sulejmanovičius, who plays in the position of a central or right defender.
With the legionnaire from Slovenia, who will turn 29 on January 26, "Vėtra" signed a two-year contract.
"I liked Lithuania, so I accepted the offer from 'Vėtra'. Former 'Atlantas' coach Sergejus Savčenkovas, who now coaches a club in the first league of Russia, invited me to his team, but I didn't want to go to Russia, even though they offered good financial conditions," explained the player.
"I have already been living in Lithuania for half a year, my family and I like it here. I am pleased that I moved to a stronger team that aims for the highest goals in the national championship and will participate in European tournaments. I believe that with 'Vėtra' we can achieve many victories," said the Slovenian.
A. Sulejmanovičius began his career in Slovenia with the clubs "Rudar Velenje" and "Celje Publikum". In 2002, the defender moved to Belgium and played for the team "Genk". After a year and a half in Belgium, A. Sulejmanovičius returned to Slovenia and represented the teams "Mura" and "Celje Publikum".
Last season, the defender started in the ranks of Klaipėda "Atlantas" and played 17 matches in the Lithuanian championship, helping the team to solidify its position in the top three with successful performances. However, after his contract with the club ended in July, he went to Ukraine and played for the team "Zorya" in Luhansk.
