Madrid newcomer Brazilian Marcelo injured his ankle during training and will be out for about six weeks. Meanwhile, his teammate Guti will return to the field sooner after a similar injury, in less than two weeks.
The 18-year-old Brazilian made his debut for "Real" in the 58th minute of a 2-0 loss to La Coruna's "Deportivo," replacing Michel Salgado. However, the joy of the young defender, who joined "Real" from "Fluminense" in December, was overshadowed by the injury he suffered in training on Tuesday, which will keep him out until the end of February.
But there is some better news at the Royal club - defender Guti is recovering well from his right ankle injury suffered in the match against "Deportivo." Tests have shown that it is less serious than Marcelo's, so it is expected that the Spaniard will return to the field in less than two weeks.
This means that the Spanish national team defender should be able to help "Real" in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 against Munich's "Bayern" on February 20.
