During the last A league season, Vilnius, which finished in fourth place, invited defender Alexey Dubyna from Belarus for a trial. Dubyna, who played for Novopolotsk's "Naftan" club, is a 26-year-old defender. Last season, he played in this club alongside two Lithuanian players - goalkeeper Simas Skinderis and another defender, Marius Skinderis.
Alexey Dubyna started his career in the third division of Belarusian football, in the modest Minsk club "Real." Since 1999, the Belarusian represented the "Naftan" team. In total, he played 76 matches in the Belarusian championships without scoring any goals. Last season, A. Dubyna played in 10 matches. "Naftan" finished in 7th place among 14 teams, surpassing Liudas Rumbutis's "Darida" team due to a better goal difference.
In the Belarusian Cup tournament, where "Naftan" was eliminated in the second round (quarterfinals), A. Dubyna managed to score one goal.
Whether the Belarusian defender will sign a contract with "Žalgiris" will be revealed in the coming days. On Saturday, he is expected to represent "Žalgiris" in a friendly match against "Kaunas."
