Former Brazil national team and current Spanish "Primera" division Madrid club left-back Roberto Carlos will have to miss about a month of games due to a thigh injury.

The 33-year-old veteran suffered the injury during Thursday's Spanish King's Cup (Copa del Rey) round of 16 match, which ended in a 0-0 draw against the Sevilla "Betis" team.

R. Carlos played only 11 minutes before injuring his right thigh muscle and was forced to leave the field, being replaced by another defender, Spanish player Raul Bravo.

Initial tests showed that the defender will be out of the lineup for about four weeks, but he may also miss the UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against German champions Bayern Munich on February 20.

R. Carlos joins the list of injured players, which already includes the new "Real" acquisition from the "Fluminense" team Marcelo, who will be out for six weeks due to an ankle injury, and goalkeeper Guti, who is expected to return to the field in about two weeks due to a similar problem.

So the head coach of the team, Fabio Capello, has no choice but to include R. Bravo in the starting lineup.
