The defender of the English Premier League club, Robert Huth, who has not played the whole month of December due to a broken foot bone, will not be able to return to the team lineup for another six weeks.
The German national team defender suffered the injury on December 5th in a match against Tottenham, but initial tests did not reveal the extent of the injury.
The 22-year-old player returned to team training at the beginning of this month, but new tests confirmed that the treatment will take more time.
The former Chelsea midfielder will definitely not be able to play until March, which is a big loss for Middlesbrough team manager Gareth Southgate.
"Returning to training, he looked bad and it became clear that his old injury had resurfaced," Southgate officially stated on the club's website. "He will need to undergo further tests, but I believe he will not recover quickly. He will definitely not play in the next six weeks."
Last August, Huth was sold to Middlesbrough for 6 million pounds sterling, but this season the German has only played in six matches in the Premier League.
Gareth Southgate's Middlesbrough team has collected 24 points after 22 matches in the country's championship and currently occupies the 15th place.
