Unsuccessfully returning to the highest league of Spain, Valencia suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat in the city derby on Saturday, which led the Valencia team to decide to dismiss Juan Ramon Lopez Caro from his position as head coach.

Lopez Caro took over Levante in July after suddenly leaving Racing Santander, where he had joined in June. Before that, he temporarily coached Real Madrid.
At Real Madrid, Lopez Caro was the coach of the youth team, but in December 2005, after the dismissal of Brazilian Vanderlei Luxemburgo, he became the head coach of Real, helping them finish in second place in the Spanish championship.
The Spanish club also announced that defender Alvaro will be out of the squad for a month due to injury. The Brazilian suffered an injury in Saturday's match against Valencia when he collided with his team's goalkeeper, Jose Francisco Molina.
